In designing a haven for a family dividing their time between New York and Tel Aviv, we aimed to seamlessly merge the breezy charm of the Mediterranean with the urban sophistication of the Big Apple. Taking over the entire 21st floor of the East 77th Street apartment, we transformed it into a four-bedroom, 4000-square-foot residence in 2016.
We chose a palette of whites and greys, mirroring the sun-kissed Mediterranean coastline alongside the perpetual energy of the city that never sleeps. Micritic limestone floors, grey-ceruse woodwork, and concrete plaster walls set the stage for our vision. In the main loft, tessellated millwork and carefully curated accessories create a welcoming beachhead.
Natural elements, including a figured marble kitchen, a crushed silk A. Rudin sofa, Andrianna Shamaris resin, and driftwood coffee table, form a painterly ensemble. Custom Tai Ping silk carpets, reminiscent of tidal pools, round out the space with a touch of urban sophistication. Together, we've transformed this residence into a unique sanctuary, providing a bird's eye view of both worlds.
